JA New York, MJSA Expo co-locate for March shows

The March 2016 edition of MJSA Expo is moving to the Javits Center and will be held at the same time as the JA New York show there.

New York--In 2016, MJSA Expo New York will move from the Hilton New York to the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and run simultaneously with the JA New York Show, March 13 to 15.

While both shows will continue to be run independently, MJSA and JA New York have agreed to honor each other’s badges, thereby enabling qualified attendees of either show access to the exhibitors and educational sessions at both, show organizers said Tuesday.

The JA New York Spring show (formerly known as the Winter show) will be held on the third floor of the Javits Center, while MJSA Expo will take place in the River Pavilion, which is located immediately adjacent to the JA New York entrance.

Admission to both shows will be free and, on two days, MJSA Expo will open early to permit JA New York exhibitors to shop the show.

Drew Lawsky called the co-location of the two trade shows a “natural fit.”

MJSA Expo New York is the oldest and largest U.S. trade show dedicated to professional jewelry-making and design and focuses on supplies to the trade, while JA New York’s emphasis is on finished fine jewelry.

“We feel strongly that having both shows running in tandem at the Javits during our March dates will have a tremendously positive impact on all of our exhibitors, and will streamline the process of attending both of these important events,” Lawsky said.

MJSA President and CEO David W. Cochran added, “We’ve heard consistently that the number of trade shows in March forces buyers to make hard decisions about which to attend. By running simultaneously, MJSA and JA New York have made those decisions a little easier.”

Organizers for both also added that the remained committed to holding their trade shows in March due to exhibitor and retailer feedback, which has indicated that they prefer a March show to one held in January or February.
