Dateline to Feature Ted Shaughnessy Case
The Austin, Texas, jeweler was murdered in his home in 2018, and his son later pleaded guilty to hiring a man to kill him.

Shaughnessy was the owner of Gallerie Jewelers in Austin, Texas, an American Gem Society member store that Shaughnessy, an AGS registered jeweler, ran alongside wife Corey Shaughnessy, a certified gemologist appraiser.
Ted was shot to death in his home on March 2, 2018, in what was initially believed to be a random home invasion.
A few months after Ted’s murder, the Shaughnessys’ then 19-year-old son, Nicolas Patrick Shaughnessy, and his wife Jaclyn Alexa Edison, also then 19, were arrested and charged in connection with the case.
Police alleged the couple hired a hitman to kill both of Nicolas’s parents so they could collect on their $2 million life insurance policy, but Corey survived.

Edison pleaded guilty to conspiracy to attempt to commit capital murder in June 2023 and received 10 years’ probation.
“Ghosts Can’t Talk,” reported by Andrea Canning, is set to air tonight, Jan. 12, at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT on NBC.
