Jeweler’s contest affords winner a racy proposal

Saratoga Springs, N.Y.--One lucky individual is going to have the chance to propose to their partner in the winner’s circle at the Saratoga Race Course in upstate New York, thanks to one retailer’s latest contest.
And that’s not all: the person proposing also will be provided with a free engagement ring from Tacori and an engagement party at the race course.
Northeastern Fine Jewelry, together with the New York Racing Association, announced its Surprise Proposal Sweepstakes on Friday, and is asking participants to enter the contest on its Facebook page, first by liking the page and clicking the sweepstakes tab to complete entry.
In total, the winner will receive a surprise engagement at the race track’s winner’s circle on Aug. 15, a Tacori engagement ring and diamond valued at $6,000, a race named in the couple’s honor (also Aug. 15), and a crystal frame from the New York Racing Association to commemorate the day.
The newly engaged couple also will be treated to an engagement party for 28 guests at the Curlin Café at the Saratoga Race Course.
Surprise engagements at sporting events have surged in popularity in recent years as couples seek more creative ways to pop the question and find a location with special meaning, Northeastern Fine Jewelry said.
“These engagements are generally broadcast on video boards for all patrons to enjoy and share the moment. Despite the popularity at other sporting events, surprise engagement proposals remain a rarity at race courses,” the jeweler said.
The contest currently is open and entry will run through Aug. 3. The winner will be randomly selected from all entries on Aug. 4, and must be present, with their partner, at the Saratoga Race Course on Aug. 15 to propose in the winner’s circle.
