IGI Names Yates & Co. As Its ‘Jeweler On A Mission’ Grant Winner
The Modesto, California retailer will receive $5,000 in credits to work toward carbon neutrality.

Jewelers On A Mission is IGI’s continuing campaign dedicated to highlighting leaders in the sustainability movement and sharing actions the trade can take along the supply chain.
Part of the campaign is a $5,000 grant, the winner of which is California retailer Yates & Co. Jewelers.
The company will be mentored by IGI and work with SCS Global Services, which does third-party certification of environmental and sustainability claims, to offset its carbon emissions.
The company will start with an evaluation of greenhouse gas output.
“Utilizing ethically sourced materials for our fine jewelry has always been top priority and continues to be, but we are ready to do more,” said Yates & Co. Manager Ashton Yates-Woolley.
“With the help of IGI and SCS, we will transform our operations, furthering our environmental stewardship.”
IGI’s United States division is also aiming to become carbon neutral itself. Once it achieves carbon-neutral status, it will be the first gemological laboratory to do so.
“We are thrilled by the passionate responses from jewelers seeking to advance their environmental efforts,” said IGI North America President Avi Levy.
“We recognize that taking on carbon neutrality and other best practices may be challenging to implement. As a leader, we are determined to take what we have learned and empower others to take action where they can.”
