Shetler Expands Amid Acquisition of Medlars Jewel Masters
The San Antonio-based fine jeweler renovated its facility to accommodate new staff and services.

Founded in 1975, Medlars specializes in jewelry restoration, design, and creation.
Owner M. Chapman Stout, who purchased Medlars in 1996, said the timing of the acquisition is perfect.
“Though we have loved every minute of our 46-year history, having a company like Shetler Fine Jewelers take over the reins is a dream come true for us,” Stout said in a press release about the acquisition.
“We know our clients will be well taken care of, and the work our jewelers will continue to create for our clientele will be top-notch. Collectively cultivating thousands of satisfied clients over the years is a testament to both our companies’ commitments to delivering an elevated and ever-evolving customer service experience.”
Two master jewelers and an on-site designer will be joining Shetler’s existing all-female sales staff.
With the acquisition comes the need for space to accommodate more staff and additional services.
Shetler’s San Antonio location was renovated to include a new viewing area to watch custom and repair work, and a private room, named “Shetler Privé” for VIP customers.
The acquisition also meant the addition of several “top-of-the-line custom and repair equipment,” making Shetler’s collection one of the largest in South Texas, the company said.
Owner Michelle Shetler said the merger is a boon to her company and the region’s custom jewelry industry.
“We are now able to provide an end-to-end experience for clients and expertly manage every touch point in the custom jewelry process to improve efficiencies,” she said.
“Adding the expertise of Medlars’ master jewelers means that we will be able to join two teams with a shared vision of delivering exquisite fine jewelry to amazing clients. We’re honored to continue Medlars’ tradition of taking care of their existing clients, while also growing our offerings and skill sets.”
Stetler is not disclosing the price of the acquisition, as per a spokesperson.
