Georgia Jewelers Convention to Talk E-Commerce Fraud Prevention
ClearSale VP Denise Purtzer will discuss online fraud risk and prevention.
The convention is scheduled for Aug. 6-8 at the Lanier Islands Legacy Lodge in Buford, Georgia.
ClearSale, the e-commerce fraud protection company, will speak on the timely topic of protecting oneself from fraudulent transactions online.
Vice President of Partnerships and Alliances Debra Purtzer will address jewelers’ risks and concerns about selling online, whether e-commerce is a major part of their business or they are just beginning to establish an online presence.
The topic is only growing in relevance in the jewelry industry.
ClearSale cited the Bain & Company “Luxury Industry Statistic and Insights in 2020” report, which asserted: “Approximately half of all luxury purchases will be digitally enabled [in the near future] thanks to new technologies along the value chain, and nearly all luxury purchases will be influenced by online interactions.”
Purtzer will delve into types of e-commerce fraud and prevention methods, and facilitate a Q&A session to address jewelers’ thoughts and questions.
“A digitally-enabled payment world, whether that be through e-commerce, m-commerce [mobile commerce], or other online channels, presents challenges for those in the jewelry industry,” Purtzer said.
“Recent data shows that e-commerce fraud could cost merchants as much as $6.4 billion by the end of 2021. It’s crucial that jewelry retailers understand their unique risks and have their questions answered about issues like Card Not Present (CNP) fraud, chargebacks, and false declines.”
ClearSale uses a combination of technology and what they say is the largest team of analysts in the industry to stay at the forefront of fraud prevention.
